How It Works
What you can expect.
For a $10 entry fee (proceeds are donated to the Community Crisis Center), Shoppers & Swappers can revitalize their wardrobes for little or no money. It’s green. It’s affordable. It’s good for our community. What could be better?!
The Swapper.
You’re a swapper if you are eco-friendly, have recessionista tendencies, and need to clean out your closet of stuff that young women ages 13 - 30 would like to own.Identify up to 10 fabulous items (see guidlines) consisting of clothing, handbags or gently worn shoes that you don’t want any more but you know someone else will love. Bring them to the Frock Swap Drop Off Site at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin on the drop off days:
Tuesday - July 12, Noon to 7:00 pm
Wednesday - July 13, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Thursday - July 14, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
For every item accepted (up-to 10 items and remember don’t donate anything YOU wouldn’t consider buying) you will receive credits that you can use on July 16th to exchange for something at the Frock Swap.
Those who bring items to swap will get to shop first on July 16th starting at 1 pm and will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win an awesome door prize donated by our sponsors.
So let’s recap:
For the $10 dollar entry fee on the day of the event, or in advance (when you drop off your clothing), Swappers will get to use their credits to obtain a fab new wardrobe, hang out with friends in our café, support the Community Crisis Center and be good to the environment. Awesome!
The Shopper.
You’re a Shopper, if you like the idea of being green and you love a bargain, but you can’t bear to part with your current wardrobe. You can still participate in the Frock Swap. You’ll have your chance to shop the racks immediately following the Swappers (time tba for 2011). Don't forget to bring some extra cash (plus the $10 entry fee) for some unbelievable bargains. So, Shoppers, we hope you’ll join us on July 16, 2011. Its good for your pocketbook, your community and your soul.
